Reverend Lester M. English Reverend Lester Morris English, 95, of Rockingham, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home. He was born March 7, 1921 in Scotland County, a son of the late Rev. Steve English and Stella Alford English. He served the Lord as a Pastor for 72 years in many churches in the counties of Richmond, Scotland, Moore, Brunswick and Anson. He was honored as Pastor Emeritus of the Pee Dee Baptist Association. Lester served his country in the US Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Stogner English, his son, Larry English, and brothers, Leo, Cecil, and Jim English. Surviving are his wife, Betty English of the home; daughter-in-law, Nancy Tincher(Louis), of Rockingham, sons, Steve Smith(Mary)of Hamlet, Jessie Jacobs(Christine) of Hamlet; granddaughters, Amy Payne(Chuck) of Rockingham, Raven Jacobs, Jessica Smith, Amanda Kautz(Doug) of Cameron, Lori Nodine(Brian) of Wellford, SC; grandsons Steven English(Mary) of Rockingham, Damian Jacobs, Dakota Jacobs, Joe Dombrosky; 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 21, 2016 at Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie McLean officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.
