Charles Ray Terry, 79, of Ellerbe, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Terry was born December 2, 1937 in Richmond County, a son of the late Jasper and Rosa Morgan Terry. He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1956, had served his country in the US Army and was a member and served as an elder and deacon of Rourk Presbyterian Church. He was the owner and operator of Terry Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing, Inc in Ellerbe for over 30 years. He had been a member of Ellerbe Lions Club and Ellerbe Civitan Club and was a faithful follower of NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ann Terry Alverson and brothers, Van, Jack, Leon and Lewis Terry. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Shirley Lovin Terry of the home; children, Patsy Ray Terry Harper (Brian) of Weaverville, Charles Brian Terry (Shannon) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Alex Alverson, Emilee Rose Harper, Abigail Grace Terry and Matthew Brian Terry; brother, Ralph Terry of Hamlet and sisters, Jo Ann Terry English of Rockingham and Rachel Terry Russell of Ellerbe. Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 11:30 am Monday at Rourk Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. John Stone officiating. The family will see friends following the service and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Rourk Presbyterian Church, c/o Tommy Kennedy, 148 Lakeshore Dr., Rockingham, NC 28379.
