Edward Everett Vuncannon, Jr., 88 of Ellerbe passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at his home, Mr. Vuncannon was born November 25, 1928 in Richmond County, a son of the late Edward Everett and Daisy Williams Vuncannon. He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1947 and Catawba College. He had served his country in the US Army and was a Scout leader in his younger years. He was president of E.E. Vuncannon, Inc., and a member of the Ellerbe Lions Club, where he was named Lion of the Year twice. He was a deacon and member of the choir at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe and Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe. He quietly served his community on many boards including the Board of Directors of Richmond Federal Savings & Loan and the Richmond Community College Foundation Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elga Mae Henderson Vuncannon and siblings, Louise Penegar, Hazel Hardin and Cecil Bradley Vuncannon. Surviving are his wife of 8 years, Mary Robinson Foreman Vuncannon of the home; sons, Edward E. Vuncannon, III (Patricia) of Clemmons, Jeff L. Vuncannon (Jill) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Kimberly Boyles, Katie Norton, Luke Vuncannon and Jake Vuncannon; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Boyles, Tilley Mae Norton and Levi Vuncannon and step-son, Jimmy Foreman (Susan) of King, NC Funeral services will be at 2pm Sunday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Monroe, Rev. Harold Mitchell and Rev. Kevin Thompson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5 to 8 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O.
