James "Jim" Howard Stewart

James Howard “Jim” Stewart, 74, of Ellerbe, passed away Friday, January 06, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Stewart was born November 26, 1942 in Moore County, a son of the late Kenny Elbridge and Mary Helen Millikan Stewart. He had served his country in the US Air Force and was a member of Rourk Presbyterian Church. He had retired from AT&T after over 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James H. “Jimmy” Stewart, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Sandy Smith Stewart of the home; daughters, Cindy Carland (Randy) of Etowah, NC, Jennifer Gibson (James) of Rockingham; grandchildren, James H. “Jimmy” Stewart, III, Miranda Carland, Madison Gibson, Emerie Gibson and brothers, David Stewart (Glenda) of Ellerbe and Paul Stewart (Bonnie) of Monroe, Michigan. Funeral services will be at 2pm Tuesday at Rourk Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm at the church and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Rourk Presbyterian Church, St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Shriners Childrens Hospital.
