Ordry Robert Hall

Ordry Robert Hall, 82, of Rockingham went peacefully to be with his Lord on August 18, 2009 at his daughter’s home in Charlotte. He was born June 27, 1927 in Stokes County, North Carolina. The son of the late Robert Troy and Alpha Savannah Hall, he lived his life in devotion to his family, mentor to many, always willing to offer a helping hand to others. He was a lifelong farmer who had a gift for and truly enjoyed the art of farming. He had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and a member of Ledbetter United Methodist Church where he was active in the Men’s Club. Ordry was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred Craven Hall and eight siblings; Carl Hall of Burlington, NC, Gillis Hall of Ellerbe, NC, Claude Hall of Rockingham, NC, Ila Simmons of Rockingham, NC, Herman Hall of Ellerbe, NC, Domelia Sullivan of Rockingham, NC, James (Ruth) Hall of Rockingham, NC and Georgianna Garren of Arden, NC Ordry is survived by one daughter, Ann (Luther) Baker of Charlotte, NC and one son, Charles (Rita) Hall of Rockingham. He has 5 grandchildren: Greg (Bridget) Hall of Garner, NC, Melissa Baker of Charlotte, NC, Jenny (Chris) Snead of Rockingham, NC, and Robbie (Robyn) Hill of Hamlet, NC. He has 5 great grandchildren: Brayden Hall, Thomas Alfredson, Jack Hill, Kelby and Ethan Snead. He is also survived by one sister, Jessie Shuford of Asheville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Ordry will be held on Sunday, August 23 at 3pm at Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Rev. Roger Thompson and Rev. Robert Austell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church in Norman, NC. The family will see friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and other times at the homeplace. The family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful Hospice staff that provided special care for Ordry over the last month. They were truly a blessing.
