Elizabeth Covington Russell

Elizabeth Covington Russell, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Pruitt Health in Rockingham. Mrs. Russell was born May 26, 1935 in Lee County, a daughter of the late Nellie Harris Covington. She was a member of Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and had retired as a waitress, having worked with the Orange Bowl and Charlie’s Café. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Russell; brothers, John and James Covington and sister, Juanita Covington. Surviving are her son, James C. Russell, Jr. (Linda) of McLeansville, NC; grandchildren, James Scott Russell and Alicia Dawn Baxter; great grandchildren, Jenna, Seth, Hannah and Griffin and sisters, Julia Holder of Mamers, NC and Edna Gladden of Knightdale, NC. Funeral services will be at 2pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Joe B. Wilkes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
