Vernon Belton McDonald, Jr., 77, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home. Mr. McDonald was born September 15, 1939 in Richmond County, a son of the late Vernon Belton and Blanche Purvis McDonald. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and had worked with Aleo Manufacturing, Clark Equipment Company, Fruit of the Loom and Scholl Heating and Air Conditioning. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Warren McDonald of the home; children, Pam McDonald Morgan of Rockingham, Darrell McDonald (Rhonda) of Cordova, Tony McDonald of Greenville, SC ; grandchildren, Ryan Knight (Megan) of Rockingham, Heather Dawkins (Jessica) of Wilmington, Sydney McDonald of Belton, SC, Chandler Martin of Greenville, SC, Autumn McDonald of Belton, SC; great granddaughter, Carlie Ray Knight and sister, Brenda Martin of Hamlet. A service to celebrate Vernon’s life will be at 3pm Friday in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Wayne Tuttle officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1791 E.
