Henry Williams Thomas

Henry Williams Thomas 89, of Rockingham, NC passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at UNC Hospitals. Henry was born on July 25, 1927 in Richmond County a son of the late Henry Lee Thomas and Ethel Williams Thomas. He served his country in the U S Army from 1945 – 1947. He was retired from J.P. Stevens, was a graduate of Wake Forest Theological Seminary and was a member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Thomas Shaw, of Rockingham, NC, Jewell Thomas Powell of Columbus, GA and grandson Jason Thomas of Oregon. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Chuck McKnight officiating. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Mary Covington Thomas of the home; sister Adelene Tate of Winston-Salem, NC, daughter Vickie Thomas Currin of Raleigh, NC, son, Randy Thomas of Rockingham, NC , Tank Thomas of Tuscon, AZ, Jeff Thomas of Spokane, WA, Kent Thomas of Raleigh, NC.,four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
