Lucille Lockhart Shepard, 84, of Ellerbe, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Southern Pines. Mrs. Shepard was born November 3, 1932 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Paul Jerome and Bertha Anderson Lockhart. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Ellerbe, where she served as church custodian for 17 years and had retired from Commonwealth Hosiery after 40 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elcie Allen Shepard, son, Shane Shepard, granddaughter, Christy Lynn Shepard, brother, C.F. Lockhart and sister Pauline Greene. Surviving are her children, Jeffrey Bert Shepard (Joyce), Jerome Allen Shepard and Elsie Lou Shepard Freeman (Lee), all of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Samuel “Sam” Shepard, Felicia Shepard, Jeffrey Shepard and great grandchildren, Kendall McCall, Samuel Shepard, Shelby Shepard, Zachary Shepard, Brian Eddins, Dylan Morgan, Avery Morgan and Bryson Shepard . Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. Dr. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.
