Mrs. Hazel Colleen 'Pete' Solomon Davis, 83, of 137 Springdale Dr., Rockingham died Monday, May 15, 2006 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was born October 20, 1922 in Stanly Co., a daughter of the late Milas D. and Addie B. Whitley Solomon. Mrs. Davis was retired from the textile industry and was Secretary and Treasurer for the VFW Post 4203 Ladies Auxiliary for thirty-five years. During that time, she held a number of District offices with the Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Thursday, May 18th in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Edwards and Rev. T. David Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow in the Richmond Memorial Park mausoleum. Surviving are her husband, Marvin A. ‘Mutt’ Davis of the home; two sons, Jerry W. Davis and wife Elaine, and Marvin K. ‘Kebo’ Davis, all of Rockingham; two grandchildren, Marty Davis and wife Marsha of Rockingham and Cameron Davis of Wilmington; two great grandchildren, Natalie and Claire Davis; and one brother, M. D. ‘Junior’ Solomon of Cordova. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
