Lewis T Stogner, Sr., 85, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 26, 2017. Mr. Stogner was born September 2, 1931 in Richmond County, a son of the late Oscar Lewis and Amanda Langley Stogner. He was a member of Pee Dee United Methodist Church, attended Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church and had been a member of Rockingham Rotary Club. He was a mechanic, having owned Stogner Exxon, worked for several service stations and retired from Clark Equipment. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Joann H. Stogner, brother, Wilbur Stogner and sisters, Lucille Morris, Edith Smith and Jessie Mae Stogner. He is survived by his four sons, Lewis T. Stogner, Jr. (wife Pat), Robert E. Stogner, Robin E. Stogner, Joey M. Stogner (Dietke), by eight grandchildren, Niki, David, Jackie, Jessica, Alexis, Kaylee, Andy and Bailey and by three great grandchildren, Caden, Gracie, Caiden and Lola. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday, June 30, 2017 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Ronald Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 9:45 to 10:45 am Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the home, 301 Legrand St., Rockingham.
