Pastor Donald Wayne Kivett, 78, of Hamlet, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 7:17 am. Born March 8, 1939 in Randolph County, he was a son of the late William Marvin and Cleo Bare Kivett. He had served his country in the United States Air Force and for over 26 years has served as pastor of Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet. He was dedicated to the ministry, reading the Bible and enjoyed visiting with the sick and shut-ins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Gillis Kivett and sons, Rodney Dale and Edwin Dean Kivett. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Williams Pope Kivett of the home; son, Timothy Wayne Kivett (Stacie) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Casey Kivett Jordan (David) and Chance Kivett; great granddaughter, Paislee Jordan; brother, Pastor Jack Kivett of Ramsuer and sister, Shirley Farmer of Liberty. Also surviving are step-children, Kathy Pope Miller, Lonnie Odell Pope (Lucy) and Andrew Jackson Pope (April); 8 step-grandchildren and 8 step-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday at Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Kivett and Pastor Darwin Cook officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 pm Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6151 Bethany Way, Staley, NC. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
