Mr. Joseph Maske, 66, of 209 S. Randolph Street, Rockingham died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. He was born September 4, 1943, a son of the late Ellen Cooper Maske and Harold Hampton Maske, Sr. Mr. Maske was a graduate of Rockingham High School Class of ’61 and attended East Carolina University. Mr. Maske was a twenty-eight year veteran of the U. S. Army, where he was in Intelligence and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 26, 2009 in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Dr. Jim Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery with full military honors. Surviving is a sister, Sherry Anne Maske of Rockingham, brother in law, Victor Cashwell and his sons, Joel Cashwell and Jonathan Cashwell and his wife Nichole, a niece, Anne Tyson, and nephew Archie Tyson and his wife Christina. Mr. Maske was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Carol Maske Tyson and Linda Maske Cashwell, and brother, Harold Hampton Maske, Jr. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
