Rev. Thomas "Tommy" F. West

Rev. Thomas “Tommy” Franklin West, 83, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home. Rev. West was born November 28, 1933 in Hoke County, a son of the late George F. and Hattie Boyette West. He had served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and pastored Fellowship Independent Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Buck, Roy and Harold West, Boots Smith, Annie Bell Wilkes, Lib Nuttall and Frances Wallace, his son-in-law, Johnny Ray Dawkins and his beloved dog, Toby. Surviving are his wife of 59 ½ years, Joyce Hudson West of the home; children, Crystal Dawkins of Rockingham, Tracy West (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, Faith Humphrey (Lee) of Hamlet; grandchildren, Hope & Holly Dawkins, Ryan West (Laura), Courtney Darnell (Chris), Hayden West, Selena Cuellar, Ryan Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Mason Dawkins, Jayden and Trinity Darnell, Emma West and special nieces, Peggy and Angie Sills. Funeral services will be at 3pm Friday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
