Clifton Rankin McLeod

Clifton Rankin McLeod, 90, of Ellerbe, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehursrt. Mr. McLeod was born December 31,1918 in Richmond County, a son of the late Lazelle B. and Marjorie Rankin McLeod. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ellerbe, had served his country in the US Army, was a charter member of the Rod and Gun Club in Ellerbe and was retired from Ellerbe Telephone Company. Surviving are his wife, Anne Nicholson McLeod of the home; daughter, Katie Mabe and husband Glenn of Ellerbe, Lynn Parris and husband Butch of Rockingham; 1 grandson, Rodney Mabe of Pinehurst; brother, James McLeod of Ellerbe; and a sister, Ruth Allen of Salisbury. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Davis and Rev. Dr. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will see friends from 9:45-10:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
