Vonnie Watts Hines

Vonnie Watts Hines, 72, of 283 County Home Road, Rockingham, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mrs. Hines was born November 1, 1936 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Grayer and Thelma Jones Watts. She was a graduate of Rohanen High School and had retired from UNITE.She was preceded in death by a brother, Leavy Watts and a sister, Virginia Dunn. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Harold Hines of the home; sons, Mike Hines of Hamlet, Harold Hines, Jr. and wife Khandice of Greensboro, Chris Hines and wife Dee Dee of Rockingham; daughter, Luanne H. Diggs and husband Talmadge of Rockingham; grandchildren, Michael Poplin, Deana Brock, Rodney Hines, Hailey Hines, Nicole Goodwin, Joel Layton, Taylor Diggs and Cody; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Norman Watts of Valdosta, GA, Willie Watts of Rockingham; and sisters, Dorothy Wiggins and Velma Butler, both of Rockingham. A service to celebrate the life of Vonnie Hines will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at the Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Marshall Norris officiating. Interment will be private. The family will see friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home on County Home Road.
