Virginia Kerns Grooms

Virginia Dare Kerns Grooms, 81, of Richmond Pines Nursing Center, Hamlet, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital – Richmond Campus in Rockingham. Mrs. Grooms was born June 21, 1936 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Newty and Lillie Mae Chavis Kerns. She had worked as a waitress and caretaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dean Grooms. Surviving are her children, Rick Grooms, Larry “Bo” Grooms, Ken Grooms, Bobby Grooms and Marshell Webb, all of Rockingham, Donald Grooms of Conway, SC and Ronald Grooms of Myrtle Beach, SC; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and sisters, Brenda Phillips of Alabama and Linda Armstrong of Idaho. A service to celebrate Mrs. Grooms life will be at 4pm Thursday at Abundant Life Church with Rev. Joe B. Wilkes, Jr. officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the church.
