Mary Melton Kanipe

Mrs. Mary Melton Kanipe, 82 of Rockingham died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at her home. She was born November 22, 1926 in Richmond County a daughter of the late Willie and Lee Paul Melton. She worked in textile as a mender. She was a member of the Community Church in East Rockingham. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Martha Cain and Bertha Ivey and one brother Buddy Melton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Robbie Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband Gene Kanipe of the home one daughter, Blenda K. Chavis and husband Tom of Charlotte and one sister Addie Hartman, Three Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her father in law Mr. Garland Kanipe. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
