On Sunday morning, June 11, 2006, Lois Irene Holder Craven went home to be with her Lord after an extended illness. She died at her home in Ellerbe. She was born on August 31, 1927 in High Point, NC, the daughter of James P. and Willie Thomas Holder. She was educated in Candor Schools and graduated from Candor High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was employed as a mender with J.P. Stevens Carpet Mill in Aberdeen , NC for 28 years. She was baptized at an early age at Center Baptist Church in Candor and has been a long term member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church of Ellerbe. She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Evon Craven and Gary Edison Craven, as well as two sisters, Doris Coble and Frances Garner. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Edison Evon Craven of the home, their children, Mike Craven and wife Susan of Ellerbe, Tony Craven and wife Angie of Statesville, Sandra Futrell and husband Ted of Ellerbe, grandchildren, Kevin and Carey Craven, Crystal Cagle , Ashley and Aaron Craven , and Jesse, Wessley and Shannon Futrell. Great grandchildren, Emma Cagle and Evie Futrell, and a sister Audrey Foster of Concord, NC. The service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:30 –8:30 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home , 153 E. Main St. Ellerbe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, c/o Evon Craven, PO Box 265, Ellerbe, NC 28338.
