Ruth McPherson Russell

Ruth Elizabeth McPherson Russell, 100, of 906 Roberdel Rd. Rockingham, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Hospice Haven of Rockingham. Mrs. Russell was born August 3, 1909 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John and Virginia Morrison McPherson. She was a graduate of Berryhill High School in Charlotte, Class of 1925, a member of Ledbetter United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School as well as served on various Committees. She had retired from Ledbetter Manufacturing Company. Her husband, Barney Alan Russell and daughter, Margaret Yvonne Russell preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John “Rig” McInnis of Rockingham; grandchildren, Robert McInnis and wife Pam of Rockingham, Dawn Snead and husband Robbie of Rockingham; great grandchildren, Meredith Barber and husband Will of Ellerbe, Lindsay Thomas and husband Joel of Raleigh, Maggie McInnis of Greensboro; great great grandchild, Madelyn Grace Barber of Ellerbe; special nieces, Sadie Timms and Dorothy Sheffield; and special friends, Scottie Brown and Annie McDonald. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Ledbetter United Methodist Church with Bill Hewett officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the McInnis Home, 123 Bynum Rd, Rockingham.
