James Monroe Stanton of Ellerbe, left this world unexpectedly yesterday December 8th. He was born May 25, 1953 in Elmira , New York to Dorothy Root Campbell of New York and the late Ernest Stanton. He is survived by his partner and best friend of the last 10 years, Carol Anderson of the home; a son and daughter who he was very proud of, Emanuel James Stanton (Marylynn) of Concord, NC and Dixie Lynn Salarno of Michigan; eight grandchildren who he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with, Elaina Jade, Isabella, Madison, Decklyn, Trace, Curtis, Colton, and Cheyenne; and one sister Bonnie Stanton of New York. James served 18 years in the U.S. Army, was a Master Sgt., and served in Desert Storm. He was a hard worker all of his life and was a very talented artist and photographer. James Monroe Stanton loved life and cherished his family. He is so very loved by his family and friends. We cherish the time we had with him and he will be forever missed by all who knew him. A service to celebrate James’ life will be conducted 7:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2009 in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. The family will receive friends following the service.
