Frank Wyatt Henry, 85, of Rockingham, died Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at The Hermitage in Rockingham. Mr. Henry was born April 22, 1924 in Richmond County, a son of the late Stephen J. and Veola Adcock Henry. He served his country in the US Army during World War II, was a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church, where he had served on the Benevolence Committee and the Administrative Board for many years. For many years he worked with Phifer Construction Company and retired from Swink Oil Company. His wife, Edith Akers Henry, his brother, Stephen Henry, Jr. and sisters, Muriel Bateman, Maxine Maples, and Margarita Porter preceded him in death. Surviving are nieces, Kay Leager and Maryanna Newman, both of Raleigh, Myra Henry Sanford of Rockingham; nephews, Albert Bateman of San Angelo, TX, Wayne Maples of Gastonia, Jim Maples and Steve Henry of Rockingham; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at West Rockingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Dawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to West Rockingham United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 217 Hwy 74 W, Rockingham, NC 28379.
