Vivian Evans Shankle, 66, of 105 Pinecrest Trail, Rockingham, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Shankle was born January 8, 1940 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Joseph Ollie and Elizabeth Delana Burns Evans. She was a member of Sierra Christian Center, where she has served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Shankle worked for many years as a textile inspector and later as an Aide in home care. She was preceded in death by a son, Tony James Martin. Surviving are her husband, Frankie Shankle of the home; a son, Kenneth Martin of Pensacola, FL; three daughters, Sandra Leviner of the Ledbetter Community, Rachel Perhealth of China Grove, and Renee Shankle of Hamlet; two sisters, Geraldine Harris of Wilmington and Elaine Ervin of Rockingham; nine grandchildren, Ashley McChesney, Joshua Adam Leviner, Brooke Wilkes, Joseph Perhealth, Hunter Wilkes, Chandler Martin, Logan Martin, Landen Allen Martin, and Cassidy Martin; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday at Sierra Christian Center with Rev. Eddie McLean and Rev. Gene Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Bear Branch Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Sierra Christian Center and at other times at the home on Pinecrest Trail.
