Doris McNeil Leviner

Doris McNeil Leviner, 79, of Rockingham died peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Mrs. Leviner was born April 13, 1930 in Granville County, a daughter of the late Ben and Ella Chandler Duke. She was a textile worker and retired from Sara Lee Corporation in 1993. She was preceded in death by her son, Byron Daniel “ Danny” McNeil in 2008, brothers, Wallace, Dallas and Charles Duke and a sister, Ruby Howard. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who will be missed by her family. Surviving are grandchildren, Melissa Staub and husband Mitch, Jennifer Thompson and husband Eric, all of Rockingham, John McNeil of Garden City, SC; great-grandchildren, Jacob Staub, Jenna Staub and Will Thompson, all of Rockingham. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Nancy McNeil of Garden City, SC; brothers, Benji and Jeffrey Duke; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 1:00 –2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home, 1517 Beaverbrook Rd, Rockingham.
