Tom Sanford

Thomas Eugene Sanford, 83, formerly of 193 Northam Road in Rockingham, NC, died Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. He was born May 25, 1926 in Richmond County, a son of the late Robert and Ann McCaskill Sanford. Mr. Sanford was an active member of Cameronian Presbyterian Church, served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1987. Mr. Sanford is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Hooks Sanford; three children, John Rodney Sanford of Murrells Inlet, SC, Gail Sanford Cole of Boiling Springs, SC, and Phillip Russell Sanford, of Clover, SC; brothers, Joe Sanford and Jim Sanford, both of Rockingham; sister, Shirley Thompson of Decatur, TX; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Cameronian Presbyterian Church on Northam Road in the Pee Dee section of Rockingham with Rev. Wyatt Coley officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 7:30 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
