Rabbit Hare

Mr. Frazier Hampton ‘Rabbit’ Hare, 79, of 207 Baldwin Rd., Rockingham died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at his home. He was born December 7, 1926 in Portsmouth Co., VA, a son of the late Julia Pittman and Wade Hampton Hare. Mr. Hare was a retired conductor from CSX Railroad with forty-three years of service. He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran in the US Navy, having participated in three invasions. Mr. Hare was a lifetime member of the DAV. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 22nd at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Hall officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Richmond Memorial Park with military honors. Surviving are his wife of fifty nine years, Doris Donathan Hare of the home; three daughters, Carolyn Saville and husband Rocky of Ocean Isle, Renee Monroe and husband Phillip of Carthage, and Sue Baldwin and husband Jimmy of Rockingham; a son, Wayne Hare and wife Sharon of New Hill; one brother, Melvin Hare of Atlanta; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Baldwin Rd. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, PO Box 2136, Rockingham, NC 28380.
