Helen Covington Thompson

Helen Covington Thompson, 86, of 1919 Ardsley Rd., Rockingham, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mrs. Thompson was born September 16, 1923 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Jim Legrande and Mary Nichols Covington. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and had retired from J.P. Stevens Company. Surviving are her husband, J.B. Thompson of the home; daughter, Mary (Butch) Thomas of Rockingham; grandson Benjie Thomas of Rockingham; great granddaughter, Hailey Thomas of Rockingham; sisters, Betty ( William) Maples of Rockingham, and Jimmie (Gene) Taylor of Fayetteville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Delane Burris officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the graveside.
