William Edward Greene

Mr. William Edward Greene, 87, of Rockingham Manor formally of 451 Battley Dairy Road Hamlet passed away at Sandhills Regional Medical Center on Sunday April 4, 2010. He was born February, 5, 1923 in Richmond County a son of the late Ed and Janie Brock Greene. Mr. Greene was the former owner and operator of Greene’s Grocery located on Airport Road. Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carrie Lee Carpenter Greene and a sister Edith Ingram. He is survived by three son’s Harold Greene of Rockingham, Kenneth Greene and Jerry Greene both of Hamlet, three daughter’s Patricia Blair of Trinity N.C, Terri Terry of Hamlet N.C, and Lori Cobler of Erie, Pa. 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren two brothers, Herman Greene of Bluffton S.C, and Ray Greene of Augusta S.C, three sisters, Evelyn Covington of Myrtle Beach S.C, Dot Brady of Pembroke N.C, and Mary Gathings of Wadesboro N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home of his daughter Terri Terry 1017 Airport Road Hamlet N.C
