Mr. Charles R. 'Smiley' Treadaway, Sr., 72, of 510 S. Caroline Street,Apt F34, Rockingham died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born February 28, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late Ruby Evans and Dick Treadaway. Mr. Treadaway worked for a number of years at J. P. Stevens, and then Clark Manufacturing, and finally with Alpha Plastics. He was past commander of VFW Post 4203 in Rockingham. Mr. Treadaway, also, served in the U. S. Navy. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, August 28th at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery with military honors. Surviving are his wife, Martha Millen Treadaway of the home; two sons, Charles 'Chuck' Treadaway, Jr. and wife Sissy of Rockingham and Rick Treadaway and wife Bunny of Statesville; three grandchildren, Mandy Hyatt, Josh Treadaway, and Tara Easley and two great grandchildren,Cooper Hyatt and Eli Easley; two sisters, Betty Lou Ward of Rockingham and Carolyn Singletary of Hamlet; and a number of special nieces and nephews. Mr. Treadaway was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence 'Truck' Treadaway and E. B. Treadaway.
