Janie Hester

Mrs. Janie Uldean Parnell Hester, 80, of 510 S. Caroline Street, Rockingham died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born October 29, 1929 in Robeson County, a daughter of the late W. R. Parnell and Elizabeth Baxley Parnell. Mrs. Hester was retired from Novell Pharmaceuticals in Hamlet. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Park and Rev. Joey Byrd officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving is a daughter, Jenni Hall Brown of Rockingham; a son, William Baxley Hester of Rockingham; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Nick) Hall and wife Beth of Rockingham, Jason Hall and wife Katie of Cary, Andrew Hall and wife Jenni of Rockingham, Katelyn Hester of Rockingham, Rene Bowles and husband Chad of Barlow, KY, and Jason Brown and wife Becca of Knoxville, TN; three great grandchildren, Dustin and Lydia Bowles, and Mrs. Hester’s pride and joy, Alex Hall; siblings, Billy Parnell and wife Sara of Gretna, LA, Ron Parnell and wife June of Stephens, VA, Sadie Taylor and husband Bob of Maryland, and Betty Idol of Myrtle Beach, SC; and a number of special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her husband , William A. Hester in 1994. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
