Mrs. Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Faye Kelly, 68, of 111 Gerry’s Dr., Rockingham died Friday, April 16, 2010 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. She was born February 18, 1942 in Richmond County, a daughter of Edwin M. Kelly and the late Geneva Jenkins Kelly. Mrs. Kelly was a summa cum laude graduate of St. Johns River Junior College. She was a charter member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and owned her own real estate company in Palatka, FL. She, also, had experience in real estate in Charlotte and Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery. Surviving, in addition to her father, Edwin Kelly, are children, Rick Jones, Lori Henry Richardson, Lisa Henry Walls, and Robin Stone Edwards and husband, Mark, all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Trisha George and husband Jack, Richard Jones, II and wife Paula, Christena Powell, Shawn Richardson, Melissa Walls Smartt and husband David, T. Shayne Puckett, Amber Edwards, and Mark Edwards, Jr. ; great grandchildren, Richard Jones, III(R.J.), Austin Smartt, and Dawson Smartt; and siblings, Bruce Kelly and wife Carolyn, Elaine Lee, John Kelly, Susie Gainey and husband Maxie, and Danny Kelly and wife Patti. Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Jenkins Kelly. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home of her son, 147 Haywood Ave., Rockingham.
