James Jenkins

Mr. James Samuel Jenkins, 81, of Hwy 73 West, Ellerbe, died Saturday, April 17th at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born May 17, 1928 in Richmond County, a son of the late Benjamin and Etta Haywood Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in the Korean War. Funeral services will be conducted graveside 11:00 am Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Robert Hitterpole and Rev. Dwight Mabrey officiating. Surviving is his wife, Ann Hurley Jenkins of the home; children, James M. Jenkins, Sheila Jenkins Thompson, and Jerry David Jenkins, all of Ellerbe; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Morris of Albemarle, Hazel Blake of Mt. Gilead, Robert Jenkins of Biscoe, and Rev. Henry Jenkins of Ellerbe. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and other times at the Thompson home, 1207 Hwy 73 West., Ellerbe.
