Jacqueline Lentz Carriker

Jacqueline Lentz Carriker, 90, of Ellerbe, died Monday, April 19, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Carriker was born March 13, 1920 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late John Franklin and Alma Townsend Lentz. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1937, Sandhills Community College , Duke University and received her Masters Degree from the University of Miami. She taught in the North Carolina Public School System and retired from the Florida Public School System, spending the last 6 years of her career working with dyslexic children as a reading specialist. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and First United Methodist Church of Ellerbe where she had been active with the Youth Fellowship and the United Methodist Women. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Heath Carriker of the home and a brother, John Lentz of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday at First United Methodist Church Ellerbe with Rev. Donald Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 11:45 am– 12:45 pm Thursday in the church parlor and at other times at the home.
