Mary Mabe Meacham

Mary Irene Mabe Meacham, 83, formerly of Ellerbe, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Manor Care in Pinehurst. Mrs. Meacham was born December 24, 1926 in Stokes County, a daughter of the late Gid H. and Dora Bennett Mabe. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1948, a homemaker and a farmer. Her husband, Jesse Jackson " Jay" Meacham, preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving are her daughters, Sylvia Medlin of Aberdeen, Cathy Hough of Ellerbe and Faye Phillips of Carthage; 3 grandchildren, and brothers, Watson Mabe and Herbert Mabe, both of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with David Hogan officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the Medlin Home, 1000 Devonshire Trail, Aberdeen.
