Tom McQueen

Mr. Marshall Thomas “Tom” McQueen, 77, of 163 McQueen Road, Ellerbe died Friday, May 7, 2010 at his home. He was born September 28, 1932 in Derby, a son of the late Carl and Beulah Jenkins McQueen. Mr. McQueen was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, where was a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Chairman of the Administrative Board. He retired from the U. S. Air Force, as a Master Sergeant. Mr. McQueen attended N. C. State University and taught ROTC at Pinecrest High School for seventeen years. He was, also, a Mason. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Monday, May 10, 2010 at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Surviving is his wife, Hattie Boyles McQueen of the home; daughters, Gay Green and husband Roger of Ellerbe and Theresa McQueen Williams and husband George of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Jeremy Dick, Amy Jones, Matthew Green, and Heather Mirassou; great grandchildren, Lauren Dick, Brittany Dick, Phoenix Dick, Garrett Dick, Nathan Jeffrey, Neveah Mirassou, Thomas Jones, Olivia Jones, Bryson Green, and Charlotte Jones; brothers, J. C. McQueen of Eden, Richard McQueen of St. James Island, SC, and Earl McQueen of Sanford; sisters, June Jamerson of Missouri, Phyllis Green of Ellerbe, Evelyn Burgess of Huntersville, Ruth Self of Harmony, Faye Davis of Concord, and Louise Bissett of Raleigh. Mr. McQueen was preceded in death by a son, Randall Wade McQueen in 1992, and by sisters, Marjorie VanBoskerck, Virginia Austin, and Ethel McQueen; and brothers, Bernie McQueen and Baxter McQueen. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at the home, 163 McQueen Rd., Ellerbe from 5 to 7 pm. Anyone wishing to pay respects to Mr. McQueen may do so Sunday afternoon at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe from 2 to 5 pm.
