Myrtle Dawkins

Mrs. Myrtle Bullard Dawkins, 86, of 114 Dawkins Street, Rockingham died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1923 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late W. H. (Bo) Bullard and Nellie Smith Bullard, and step daughter of the late Belle Dawkins Bullard. Mrs. Dawkins was a life long member of East Rockingham United Methodist Church. She was retired from the J. C. Penney company. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 pm Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at East Rockingham United Methodist Church with Rev. Vann Floyd and Rev. Donnie Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving are her two sons, Harold Dawkins, Jr. and wife Cindy of Rockingham and Herb Dawkins and wife Suzanne of Asheville; two grandchildren, Settle Dawkins and wife Jill of Leland and Lucinda Bowman and husband Kevin of Rockingham; two great grandchildren, Logan Bowman of Rockingham and Bauer Dawkins of Leland; and a granddog, Baxter. Mrs. Dawkins was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Harold Dawkins, Sr. in 2008, and a sister, Alene Bullard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home of Harold and Cindy Dawkins, 161 Lakeview Trail, Rockingham.
