Clinton Alexander Comer, 88, of Cypress Court, Lynchburg, VA formerly of Ellerbe died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Cypress Court. Mr. Comer was born February 25, 1918 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Lindsay Wister and Margaret McFayden Comer . He was a member of First Presbyterian Church Ellerbe where he had served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and general handyman around the church. He had served his country in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the Ellerbe Lions Club where he had served as treasurer and president. He was employed with the US Department of Agriculture as a poultry inspector and was owner and operator of Comer Insurance Agency in Ellerbe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Auman Comer in 2001. Surviving are his daughters, Carolyn Sherayko of Lynchburg, VA, and Anne Yates of Marshville, brothers, Mac Comer of Greensboro, Fred Comer of Fayetteville, sister, Margaret Thompson of Pinehurst, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Noon Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Ellerbe with Rev. James B. Watson officiating. Private interment will be in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, PO Box 2136 Rockingham, NC 28380.
