Mrs. Natalie Jenkins Martin, 81, formerly of Aberdeen Rd., Rockingham died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham, surrounded by her family. She was born October 2, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Roy and Vida Mae Jenkins. Surviving is her son, Harold Lee Martin of Rockingham; two daughters, Susie M. Parker of Rockingham and Trudy M. Rayfield of Raleigh; nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Bee Frye of Rockingham. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Martin; a son, Neil Martin; and two brothers, Joseph Jack Jenkins and R. E. Jenkins, Jr. Mrs. Martin was an active member of Roberdel Baptist Church, where she was the church organist for over twenty four years. Mrs. Martin had been the church clerk, Sunday School teacher, choir member and also served in other positions. She was retired from the Sara Lee Company in Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, May 20th at Roberdel Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Smith, Rev. Jerry Turner, Rev. Charles Larrimore, and Rev. Larry Frye officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home of Elaine Martin.
