Joseph Ussery

Mr. Joseph A. Ussery, 95, formerly of Bennett Rd., Ellerbe died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at home of his grandson in St. Louis, MO. He was born January 17, 1915 in Montgomery County, a son of the late James David Ussery and Patsy Elizabeth Thompson Ussery. Mr. Ussery was a member of Saron Baptist Church and a member of the church building and grounds committee. He was a retired poultry grower, farmer, and carpenter. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Saron Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will follow in Chappell cemetery. Surviving is his wife, Lila Covington Ussery; two grandsons, Byron W. Bennett and wife Amy of St. Louis, MO and Jonathan L. Bennett and wife Christina of Bay Village, OH; great grandchildren, Neal, Caleb, and Elijah Bennett, and Alex and Ethan Bennett; and a sister, Marie U. Hall of Aberdeen.
