Phillip "Matt" Chavis

Mr. Phillip Matthew Chavis Jr. of 424 S. Grace Chapel Church Road Hamlet died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. Matt was born January 8, 1961 in Marlboro County a son of the late Phillip Matthew Chavis Sr. and Inez Webb Patrick. He worked in the shipping department of a paper mill. In addition to his parents a sister Darlene Shaw preceded him in death. Funeral services will held Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Wallace S.C. with Rev. Sonny Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife Runa McIntyre Chavis, one son, Chris Chavis of the home, two daughters. Tara Hough of Hamlet and Brittany Chavis of the home. One brother, Jerry Shaw of Wallace S.C. and 2 Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
