David Harris Dewitt

David Harris Dewitt, 66, of Ellerbe, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. David was born October 28, 1943 in Moore County, a son of the late Gary and Ada Pusser Dewitt. He was a member of Ellerbe First Presbyterian Church, PCA, where he had served as a deacon, worked with the youth, and enjoyed cooking for various church functions. He attended Ellerbe High School and was a Tobacco and produce farmer. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and poppy. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Susan Parsons Dewitt of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Dawn Dewitt, Rickie and Sharon Dewitt, all of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Devin and Jake Dewitt; brothers, John Dewitt and wife Mable of Barney GA, Edward Dewitt of Ellerbe, Phillip Dewitt and wife Jean of Madison, FL, Steve Dewitt of Lexington, NC; sisters, Anne Lomax and husband Raymond of Jackson Springs, Jeannette Carr and husband Hap of Clemson, SC.; and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Ellerbe First Presbyterian Church, PCA with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
