Irene Thompson Ballard

Irene Thompson Ballard, 81, of 139 5th St. Ellerbe, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Ballard was born August 10, 1928 in Anson County, a daughter of the late Archie F. and Mary Lou Maness Thompson. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1947, an active member of Concord United Methodist Church and had retired from Commonwealth Hosiery after 33 years of service. She loved working with crafts, making quilts and working with her flowers in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Ballard, brothers and sisters, Postell Thompson, Archie Thompson, Jr., Frances McLendon, Margaret Greene and Grace Godfrey. Surviving are her daughters, Robbie Ballard and Amy Terry, both of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Bruce Bittle, Jr. and wife Brandi of Greenville, NC and Felicia Culbreth of Ellerbe. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in Ellerbe Cemetery with Rev. Roger Paxton officiating.
