Martha Stancil Sugg, 88, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, formerly of Ellerbe, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at St. Lucie Hospice House of the Treasure Coast. Mrs. Sugg was born November 17, 1921 in Mecklenburg County, NC, a daughter of the late James Carl and Sarah Ellen Flenniken Stancil. She had served her country in the Women’s Army Corp in the South Pacific during World War II and was a homemaker. Her husband, Carlton J. “Preacher” Sugg in 2007, preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Robert Carlton Sugg, wife Kathy, their sons, Ian and Clay of Evergreen, CO, Daniel Johnson Sugg, wife Janet, their son Daniel of Jensen Beach, Fl, their daughter Blakeley McFetridge, her husband, Mark of St. Augustine, FL, William Timothy Sugg, wife Sally, their sons, Joshua and William of Ft. Pierce, FL, Richard Spinks Sugg, wife Jackie of Four Oaks, NC, their children, Amanda Sugg of Rockingham, NC, Jeremy Sugg of Rockingham, NC, Andrew Sugg of Chapel Hill, NC, and Annie Sugg of St. Augustine, FL, and great grandchildren, Lain Sugg and Piper McFetridge. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 31st in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Edsel Huffstetler officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.
