Mildred Agnes Laton

Mrs. Mildred Agnes McFayden Laton, 88, of Ellerbe, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Richmond County Hospice Haven. Mrs. Laton was born July 8, 1922 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John and Mildred Carpenter McFayden. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellerbe, where she had served as director of the Extension Department and had retired from Gilead Manufacturing Company. Her husband, Millard Fillmore Laton preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis Carriker and husband Ralph of Ellerbe, Libby Wilson and husband Don of Charlotte; grandchildren, Bryon Wilson, Steven Wilson, David Wilson, Jim Carriker and Jan Carriker; great-grandchildren, Matt Carriker, Troy Carriker, Lauren Wilson, Garrett Wilson, Ella Wilson, Madeline Carriker, Addison Wilson and Emelia Wilson; brothers, Henry McFayden of Raleigh, Bill McFayden of Ellerbe and sisters, Betty Houser of Coco, FL and Elva Laton of Hamlet. A service to celebrate Mrs. Laton’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Ellerbe with Rev. James Brown and Rev. Jack Moody officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the church and at other times at the Carriker home, 222 Derby Way, Ellerbe.
