Delmar Loyd Lassiter, 76 of 207 Homeplace Rd. Rockingham died Tuesday October 31, 2006 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1930 in Richmond County a son of the late Daniel and Verlie Norman Lassiter. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cuban Crisis, retiring in 1970 as Master Sergeant. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a member of Ft. Bragg Masonic Lodge # 667 in Spring Lake, NC, and the York Rite Bodies. A son Delmar Lassiter Jr., a brother Joseph D. Lassiter and a sister Myrtle Pierce preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3, 2006 at 3:00pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene McNair officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Barbara Richardson Lassiter of the home, three daughters Deborah L. Cain and Norma L. Parsons of Rockingham and Nora L. Smith, one brother Daniel R. Lassiter Jr. of Asheboro, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. The family will see friends Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Homeplace Rd. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society 500 E.
