Jerry Brown Cloninger

Jerry Brown Cloninger, 71, of Ellerbe died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Cloninger was born May 24, 1939 in Richmond County, a son of the late Tom and Bess Garner Cloninger. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellerbe where he had served as a deacon and member of the choir. He graduated from Ellerbe High School, Class of 1957, was a former member of the Ellerbe Civitan Club and had retired from Southern Builders. A sister, Linda Lay, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Faye Todd Cloninger of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Cathy Cloninger of Ellerbe, Greg and Hollis Cloninger of Mooresville; grandchildren, Bryan and Jessica Cloninger, Craig and Elizabeth Cloninger, Lindsey Cloninger and Reagan Cloninger; great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Madyson, Olivia and Abagail Cloninger; brother, Bill Cloninger of Ellerbe; and sisters, Gayle Currie of Ellerbe and Vickie Young of Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 9:45 – 10:45 am Thursday at the church and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Ellerbe Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 148, Ellerbe, NC 28338 or to Mountain Creek Fire Department, 248 Godfrey Rd., Ellerbe, NC 28338.
