Lester Monroe Reynolds, Jr. “Butch” On September 24, 2010, Butch was given the gift of eternal life after a 22-month journey with cancer. Born on February 20, 1949 in Southern Pines, he leaves his beloved family – his wife of 38 years, Linda McRae Reynolds, son Andrew McRae Reynolds of Matthews and daughter Emily Erin Reynolds of Charlotte. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Lester “Jim” Reynolds and Lillie Mae Reynolds. He is survived a sister, Mary Shankle and her husband, Ronnie of Rockingham; brother Rick Reynolds and his wife, Tammy of Southern Pines; and a brother, Dennis Reynolds and his wife, Lori of Ellerbe. Butch was a graduate of East Montgomery High School and Richmond Community College. He proudly served in the US Army, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969-70. He enjoyed a long-time career with Store Planning, Inc. and was actively involved with Matthews Athletic and Recreation Association as a baseball and softball coach. Services will be held on Sunday, September 26 at 3:30 pm at First United Methodist Church in Ellerbe, NC, with the Rev. Donald Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:15 in the church chapel. Burial will be at Ellerbe Cemetery immediately following the service. A memorial service will be held at Matthews United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 29 at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105.
