Villa “Billie” Hancock Webb, 80, of Norman, NC, died at St. Joseph’s of the Pines in Southern Pines on Oct. 13, 2010. Born on Aug. 23, 1930, in Richmond County, Villa was preceded in death by her late husband Horace B. Webb, and her parents John D. Hancock and Nellie Wilson Hancock, all of Norman. Mrs. Webb retired from the U. S. Postal Service where she served as Postmaster in Norman and Hoffman, as well as Postal Clerk in Carthage, Ellerbe and Candor. Surviving family members include children: Helen Alexander and husband Glenn of Rockingham; Wanda Swain and husband Steve of Greensboro; Nancy Parsons of Ellerbe; Jimmy Webb of Norman; grandchildren Laura Alexander Linker and husband Tim of Cary; Jenifer Orr Wolfe and husband Neil of Seven Lakes; Michael Kevin Orr and wife Sheila of Hamlet; Abigail Dowd of Portland, ME; Jacob Dowd of Greensboro; Seth Webb and wife Sabrina of Southern Pines; Caleb Webb of Greenville, NC; and Rebecca, Kimberly and Amy Parsons of Ellerbe. Mrs. Webb’s great-grandchildren are Chandler Orr, Benjamin and Matt Wolfe and Luke Linker. Mrs. Webb is also survived by two sisters: Oneita Hancock Snead and the late B. L. Snead, Jr. of Rockingham, and Elon Hancock Black and husband Eugene of Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe, NC. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s of the Pines and First Health Hospice for their special care.
