Pearl Evans Offt Thomas, 76, of 137 Wiregrass Rd., Rockingham, died Friday, October 22, 2010 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Thomas was born August 23, 1934 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Asmond Jefferson and Myrtle Poplin Evans. She was a member of First Assembly of God where she was a diligent worker in various activities and a member of the choir. Prior to her retirement she had worked with Richmond Internal Medicine, Dorsett Printing and BB&T. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Darrow Offt and Gene Thomas, her twin brother, Jimmy Earl Evans and a sister Doris Maske. Surviving are her daughters, Crene Veach of Rockingham, Duryea Lovin of Locust; sisters, Faye Betz of New Bern, NC, Martha Wright of Marston; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4pm Monday at First Assembly of God in Rockingham with Rev. Gene Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Veach home, 137 Wiregrass Rd.
