Richard Leon Cook, DVM, 53, of Foxfire Village, died Friday, November 5, 2010 in Goldsboro, NC. Richard was born September 10, 1957 in Ness City, Kansas, a son of the late Omer and Elsie Griffith Cook. He was an active member of First Assembly of God in Rockingham and a graduate of Kansas State University, Class of 1983, where he obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He was employed with the USDA/FSIS as a Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer. His brother, George Cook, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Devonne Pudge Cook of the home; sons, Zane Cook of Richmond, MO, Joel, Seth, Caleb and Joshua Cook, all of the home; daughters, Victoria and Elizabeth Cook, of the home; granddaughter, Allija Cook and a sister, Katherine Thomas of Colorado. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at First Assembly of God in Rockingham, with Rev. Gene Alexander officiating. Private interment will be in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends following the service at the church and at other times at home in Foxfire Village.
